Message from the President

Nov. 5, 2012

Dear LMU Community:

It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of John “Jack” Bosson, a lecturer in the College of Communication and Fine Arts and the School of Film and Television.  Jack, who was 75 years old,  passed away at his home last week.

Jack joined the LMU faculty four years ago and was highly esteemed as a teacher.  He began teaching the figure drawing workshops for art and animation students and taught in SFTV’s Animation Program. He also directed the animal drawing collaboration between SFTV and CFA. Over the course of his career, Jack had taught drawing and painting at Cornell University, the College of New Rochelle, USC, Otis College of Art and Design, Woodbury University and the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.

He earned his Master of Fine Arts degree at Cornell University and was a Fulbright Scholar in Paris. In addition to his academic career, Jack was for 35 years a sought-after artist and illustrator. He worked briefly at Hanna-Barbera and was hired in 1995 by Disney Studios as a trainer in feature animation.

A remembrance is scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, at convo hour in the Drawing Studio, Burns Fine Arts Center, Room 217. Memorial services are pending.

Please keep Jack and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

David W. Burcham
President
