Mark Houlemarde
Mark Houlemarde is the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Administration. He provides support for activities in the Academic Affairs division, including strategic planning, curricular initiatives, monitoring and developing new and existing partnerships, and providing empirical information to support operations. Dr. Houlemarde is an adjunct instructor in LMU's School of Education and has taught courses in the Higher Education Administration M.A. program.
Assistant Vice Provost Houlemarde received his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Indiana University where he was selected to receive the President’s Diversity Dissertation Fellowship. Dr. Houlemarde has worked in student affairs and academic affairs for over 15 years. Previous roles include Assistant Dean for Graduate Education at LMU, Project Associate at the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Manager of Graduate Housing at Cornell University, Director of the Latino Cultural Center at Cornell University, consultant for UnidosUS, and Outreach and Education Staff Member for the Sexual Assault Crisis Services at Indiana University.
Houlemarde’s research focuses on the history of higher education, with a particular focus on the history of interpersonal aggression. He was selected as a participant of the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Institute for Higher Education Faculty at George Mason University. Assistant Vice Provost Houlemarde has given dozens of academic presentations at ACPA, NASPA, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE), and the History of Education Society (HES). He has also served as Chair, Co-Chair, and Executive Board Member of LMU’s Latine Staff Association.
