Daisy Saucedo Hernandez

Message from the President
Jan. 11, 2022

Dear LMU Community:

I am saddened to share that Daisy Saucedo Hernandez, a graduate student in the English Department, died on Dec. 20, 2021, of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning while on vacation. She was 25 years old.

At LMU, Daisy was on the M.A. English Literature track, worked as a graduate assistant, and had been awarded a Teaching Fellowship. Daisy had discovered her love of modern and postmodern authors and had just completed her first semester. She also was a painter, enjoyed traveling, and ran her own editing business, Edit Me.

Hailing from Bloomington, California, Daisy earned her B.A. in English with a minor in education from UCLA.

Student Psychological Services, Community of Care, and the Dean of Students are available to speak with students who seek support amidst this tragedy.

The family had a private service on Jan. 5, 2022. The university will remember Daisy with a plaque bearing her name on our student memorial, Ad Astra per Aspera.

Please keep Daisy, her family members, and her many friends in your prayers.

Sincerely,

Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D.
President
